Max Lazarus DO
Founder, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Lazarus embarked on his career as a personal trainer in both commercial and private settings before pursuing a degree in medicine. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Adelphi University and completed medical school at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduation he continued to a 4 year residency at Nassau University Medical Center, spending his last year as Chief Resident.
Working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic deeply shaped Dr. Lazarus’s perspective, bringing into sharp focus the gaps in mental health care and the need for more accessible, effective treatments. In the emergency department, ketamine is used frequently and safely for a variety of clinical indications, giving Dr. Lazarus firsthand experience with its powerful therapeutic potential and a deep understanding of its safety profile.
Driven by a desire to support patients beyond the emergency department, Dr. Lazarus founded Queens Ketamine Treatment Center to provide a safe, supportive space for individuals struggling with treatment-resistant mental health conditions. His approach is grounded in evidence-based care, compassionate connection, and a belief that healing requires attention to both the body and the mind.
Blending his backgrounds in fitness, medicine, and integrative care, Dr. Lazarus ensures that each patient receives personalized, thoughtful treatment that includes not only ketamine therapy but also supportive wellness services such as nutrition counseling, fitness support, IV hydration, stretch therapy, and massage.
Currently he works at various emergency departments in NYC, and enjoys spending time in the mountains skiing, cycling or continuing his life long passion of playing ice hockey.
